Windscreen wipers

I wrote about this female southern hawker a couple of days ago.  Here are two more photos which also afford a close-up view of her mouth, one we normally never get.

Because she was being so co-operative I was able to record a video clip as well.  It was taken on my new Panasonic TZ90 from a distance of about 5cm.  The lens was so close it was touching her wing.

It shows the amazing flexibility of her neck as she cleans her eyes with her front legs.  And we thought owls had flexible necks.

  1. Just like windscreen washers, the timing and cadence is identical!
