An exotic garden visitor

The oystercatchers first nested on the roof of a haulage depot across the road last year.  They have been back for the past few weeks and I have seen and heard them flying overhead every day.  I was on high alert to get some photos at the start but they have avoided my garden, even though they have visited all my neighbours and I have often seen them on the golf course.  Then last night I saw one strolling past the kitchen window.  I had just enough time to grab a camera and rattle off a few blurry photos through the window before it was gone.

I expect the young will fly soon, in which case we won't see them again until next spring.
