I had assumed all our winter visitors would have headed north or north-east by now so I was surprised to see a brambling under the feeders this morning.
Bramblings breed in Scandinavia but it probably doesn't take them long to fly that far. Looking at BTO BirdTrack data there are still some around but they will all be gone by the end of the month.
A similar picture from the BTO Garden BirdWatch data so I was lucky to see this one. It is only the second I have seen all winter.
