Nest box news 5

It is two weeks since the eggs hatched and this is how the chicks look now.







During the week I also managed a few photos of the adults outside the box.  This is the male.

And a not very good shot of the female.


The mother stopped sleeping in with the chicks three nights ago as they are now big enough to keep themselves warm. They are just starting to exercise their wing muscles in preparation for departure.  In previous years they have always fledged at 18 or 19 days so I think these will fly on Friday or Saturday.  If they do I'll hope to post some pictures here.
