Bird of the week - Robin

I suppose it had to be a robin at this time of year.  This is one of the robins in residence by the flagpole on the bumpy road at Prestwick Carr.  It isn't quite brave enough to feed from my hand.  It sits in the hedge two feet away but can't quite make the last jump.  Maybe when it is colder with less food around it might feel more confident.

Last winter (below) and the winter before (bottom) there was a braver robin who was happy to sit for a photo in exchange for a few mealworms.
